Which page did you analyze?
We analyzed the About Us pageÂ
Who are the members of your group?
The members of my group are Sophia and AlanaÂ
Who is the apparent target audience for your site? Who was it written for?
The apparent target audience is parents, who are looking to find out a little bit about the background of the school and what it stands for. Knowing what a school believes in and its values is a key factor in deciding if parents want to send their children there.Â
Who should it have been written for?
It is written for the exact audience it is targetingÂ
Is the amount of text appropriate? Could it be said more concisely? Would it benefit from additional text?
Yes, the amount of text written is appropriate for the page. It is concise and gives enough information for the audience to understand what the school stands for and what they are all about. It is not too wordy, and I do not believe additional text is needed.
Show how you would rewrite the text.
Although I wouldn’t add any additional text, I would change the headings. In the first paragraph titled ‘Highlander Charter School History’, the text doesn’t relate to the school’s history at all, while the paragraph underneath does. I would instead title this section ‘Who we are’ and move the history header to the paragraph below it. I would alter it a little bit to say ‘Highlander Charter School History and Legacy’ to tie in the header that was there before. The final paragraph can stay as is, as well as the mission, vision, and values section at the top of the page. Â
The image to the left (of the school) would be placed under the history section of the page. It allows those looking into the school to see what it looks like. The image on the right would be placed under the mission statement section of the page. This is because it mentions offering support that meets the needs of each student, which is shown in the picture. The students are working in small groups that best suit their learning style and abilities.
